‘The Embrace’

A celebration of imperfect beauty and emotional rebirth

“The Embrace” is a mixed-media piece inspired by Kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Instead of hiding cracks, Kintsugi highlights them, honoring the journey that shaped us. This piece explores the beauty found within our own ‘cracks’: the parts of us that have been stretched, broken, healed, and transformed.

I began the painting back in April 2023 and revisited it many months later. I love returning to pieces that call me back—because every return reflects a different stage of my life, a new perspective, and spiritual growth.

This painting has evolved alongside me and I am glad to announce it has now sold!

The Embrace was part of the Roots Exhibition hosted by In The Frame, a special Arts Council–funded project created to bridge the gap between emerging young artists and the wider art world. Over the last 10 weeks, students from The Bridge Academy (a London SEN school) have been working with an art therapist to develop their own artworks, which were showcased alongside established artists. The aim was to build confidence, celebrate creativity, and show that a future in the arts is truly possible.
