The Pebble Exercise

So many of us experience anxiety, overwhelm… sometimes in seasons of our lives, and sometimes every single day.

 

I know what it feels like when your mind just won’t switch off.

When everything feels loud, heavy, or too much.

 

This exercise was born from that exact feeling —

from a need to find calm in the middle of the noise.

 

I had a pebble on my desk one day, and instead of overthinking what to draw, I just… let it lead.

 

You place a pebble on your page, rest your pen against it, and gently push it.

Where it goes, your pen follows.

 

No plan.

No pressure.

No need to get it “right.”

 

Just soft, flowing lines created by movement, not perfection.

 

And the beautiful thing is…

you don’t have to think.

 

If the pebble moves in a way you didn’t expect, you follow it.

If it falls off the page, you place it back down and keep going.

 

That’s the practice.

 

It’s about letting go of control, even just for a moment.

It’s about being present.

It’s about trusting something simple to guide you when your mind feels busy.

 

I created this for myself…but it’s become something I now share with you.

 

Because sometimes, we don’t need more answers. We just need a way to move through the discomfort.
